This website contains photographs that I took while traveling around the world on dive trips. The majority of photos are a wide variety of underwater photographs. However, this being said, there are "above water" photographs and photos taken around my home in Iowa.

My name is Craig Voelker. My wife, Kerry, and a fellow business partner, Tom Lavender, started a dive store (Aqua Sport, Inc.) in Burlington, Iowa. We wanted a business where we could teach people how to dive and to help them achieve their dreams as aquatic explorers. We have since sold the store; however, this small dive business was the catalyst for my underwater photography.

Originally, my wife had a hobby in photography and wanted to attempt underwater photography. So we purchased a housing for her camera. For the fun of it, I borrowed her camera to use on a dive trip to Panama City, FL. Having absolutely no knowledge of photography, let alone underwater photography, I took my first underwater photos. And, believe it or not, there were some pretty good shots!! Well, at least I thought they were good - then.

I became impassioned with underwater photography and you can see the results here on our website. After taking thousands of slides, Kerry thought it would be fun to scan the slides and build a website to share the images. As she was building this site, it was fun looking through all of the slides and recalling the locations and people who shared our diving adventures. Underwater photography has given me a greater appreciation and respect for nature.
